It’s easy to get lost in the streets of Popayan or “The white City¨ as it is sometimes referred to… and for this very reason – everything is white!! This stunning colonial city was the capital of Southern Colombia before Cali took this crown.

Popayan is a little off the usual tourist trail and this is the beauty of it. Enjoy a free walking tour to uncover all the secrets behind this colonial city that is teeming with churches, universities, excellent gastronomy (don´t leave without trying their famous mini empanadas with spicy peanut sauce!) and has been home to seventeen Colombian Presidents.

Our top day trip recommendation is to the indigenous village called Silvia. Make sure you time your trip for a Tuesday when it hosts its weekly produce market. It was originally meant for the local indigenous communities from the hot and cold climates to exchange their products.
