It is true that Colombia has had a torrid past of internal conflict, drug cartels and its string of high profile kidnappings. It is also true that these elements of danger is a thing of the past!
From personal experience, Daniel, the company’s co-founder and director, has been traveling to Colombia since he was a baby to visit family and he can recount incidents in Medellin of car bombs, shootings and hitmen on motorcycles. All of which he was personally witness to during late 1980s and early 1990s.
Since then, drug cartels have moved to other countries, the guerrillas have been drawn back by the military and the paramilitaries disarmed, leaving Colombia to flourish in its true form: a unique country full of charming people and authentic travel experiences.
We have personally traveled the entirety of Colombia and would never recommend travel to places where there would be a risk of any kind.
However, being smart in large cities is always recommended since petty street crime still exists and is our major concern.
Having the best possible experience during your travels in Colombia is our responsibility, that includes making sure you are safe.
