After travelling to Spain on a solo Europe trip, I fell into what would be a lifelong love with the Spanish language! I began studying Spanish in my native home of Canada while planning an adventure of two years of travels throughout Latin America. I departed in 2009 and spent time hiking, eating and exploring in almost every South and Central American country before eventually ending up and calling Colombia home in 2011. I adore Colombia and its culture, people, food and landscapes and love that I can explore and discover new corners of it every day.
I spent many years teaching and translating in the country’s capital of Bogotá where I met my husband and we started a family. When I started working with Colombia Eco Travel in 2015 I was so inspired by the focus on sustainability and the fusion of my love for travel and language and I still continue to be inspired every day. I received my Certified Travel Associate diploma in 2019 and I would like to go back to Spain one day very soon and complete my degree in Spanish Language and Culture.
I have a very special spot in my heart for everything Colombian, especially coffee! Arepas, ajiaco and arroz de coco are among some of my favorite Colombian foods and my love for the city of Bogotá is eternal. I hope to continue sharing my passion and expertise in Latin American travel, especially Colombia with all travellers.
