On the “TICOYA Amazon Tour” (Ticunas, Coamas and Yaguas) you will visit indigenous communities and learn about their history and culture. You will learn to identify some of their sacred plants and learn about their natural and medicinal properties.

Activities may change slightly depending on the water levels. High water levels can be expected in February, March, Abril and the highest levels can be expected all through May and beginning of June. During high water season more activities are done by boat or canoe. The water levels drop from mid-June where more hiking is included.

Day 1 - Natamu

After welcoming you at the airport or hotel we head by boat to the Natamu Nature Reserve in Peru, home of the indigenous Chinería community who live along the banks of the river with the same name.
At Natamu, we will go on an ecological walk, if the water level permits it. If the water level is too high we will explore the tropical rainforest by canoe or kayak. If the water level permits it we might be able to visit a waterfall nearby too.
We will visit the indigenous community, go fishing if you like and simple relax and soak in the beauty of the rainforest. After dinner we can go on a nature walk to explore this part of the jungle at night and we can see if we can spot Caymans on a night boat trip.

Accommodation is in cabañas (huts)

Day 2 - Tikuna

After breakfast at the Nature Reserve we take the public boat to Bocas de Amacayacu where we will be picked up by a smaller boat to be able to reach the indigenous community Tikuna of San Martin.
After lunch we have time to explore the village, swim in the Amacayacu River or participate in one of the traditional workshops. We have dinner with the host family and can maybe learn a few Tikuna words.

Accommodation is in cabañas (huts)

Day 3 - Puerto Nariño & Tarapoto Lake

After breakfast we continue our journey on foot or boat to Puerto Nariño, a car-free village. Before we have lunch at a local restaurant we have time to explore the village.
We can visit the Natatuma Foundation where animals that inhabit the Tarapoto Lake and its surrounding are displayed in form of statues. We can also head to the viewpoint - a fantastic place for photos of the village. After lunch, we can go for a swim, go Piranha fishing or look out for pink and grey dolphins on the Tarapoto Lake. We have dinner in the village.

Accommodation is either in rooms with double beds (couples) or a room with multiple beds (groups)

Day 4 – Leticia

After breakfast we will be taking the public boat to reach Leticia within 2 hours. We can show you some of the highlights in Leticia (market area, Santander Park, etc) and will then bring you back to the airport or hotel as requested beforehand.
