Itinerary

Day 1Arrive into the Coffee Region

After a morning flight into Pereira or Manizales, you’ll be transported to the lovely coffee farm of Hacienda Venecia. Hacienda Venecia is a working coffee farm with over 100 years of experience, with pools and large terraces overlooking the property. Here you will spend the next few days. A traditional lunch and juice will await you before a Cacao tour. The cacao experience is full of delicious aromas, colours and flavors. Create your homemade custom chocolate delight with the flavors that match your taste buds to enjoy after the class or as a treat to bring home.

 

 

Day 2Coffee Tour

After breakfast to the sounds of the birds chirping you’ll be taking part in a coffee tour today. Truly dedicated coffee enthusiasts will be immersed an entire coffee experience around the magic little beans on this coffee tour. You will learn about the origin and history of coffee, the worldwide distribution, the different coffee varieties and qualities, as well as about the aromas and properties of coffee, café de Colombia and its institutions and the Coffee Cultural Landscape.

Day 3San Vicente Hot Springs

The San Vicente Hot Springs are one of the most beautiful places to relax in Colombia. Termales de San Vicente offers a wide range of thermal pools and spa treatments. There are more than 163 species of exotic birds and offers opportunities for hiking and extreme sports. In San Vicente, honey and oatmeal scrubs, mud therapy and fruit therapy are some of the most popular treatments. Take your pick of spa treatments as you relax today!

Day 4Cocora Valley and Salento

An early start this morning as you head to the town of Salento. Your guided tour will begin with a ride in the traditional Jeep Willy, to the national park and then followed up with a trek through the Cocora Valley. You’ll learn about the local history, ecosystems, flora and fauna of the region. In the afternoon, you will head back to the town for a late lunch and an opportunity to explore the streets of Salento. Walk to the artisan community to see local handicrafts and talk to the locals. Explore the town and enjoy the view from the lookout.

Day 5Medellin

This morning an early flight from Medellin to the Pacific Coast. You will arrive at the Bahia Solano airport where you will be greeted and transferred to your ecolodge, along the way view a picturesque jungle landscape until you reach El Almejal Beach, where the Lodge is located. You will be settled into your accommodation and have lunch. In the afternoon some free time to enjoy the beach followed by a yoga class overlooking the jungle and ocean.

Day 6Medellin to Pacific Coast

This morning an early flight from Medellin to the Pacific Coast. You will arrive at the Bahia Solano airport where you will be greeted and transferred to your ecolodge, along the way view a picturesque jungle landscape until you reach El Almejal Beach, where the Lodge is located. You will be settled into your accommodation and have lunch. Free afternoon to enjoy the beach.

 

 

Day 7Nature Reserve and Turtle Night Patrol

Starting the route to the reserve you will visit the conservation projects and organic garden while appreciating the viewpoint of the ocean merging with the jungle. While in the Nature Reserve the guide will give interesting explanations about the species of the jungle and the ecosystem. You will see species of some amazing fauna and flora. Lunch. Free afternoon to enjoy the beach. At night and in the company of a local guide, you will begin the search for nesting turtles that arrive to spawn and enjoy a wonderful natural event.

 

 

Day 8Whale Watching

During whale season (late June to mid-October), on a boat ride or even from the beach, you are extremely likely to encounter humpback whales, jumping from the water and slapping the surface with their fins and tails. Seeing these incredible creatures in such a wild and exotic place is one of Colombia’s top ecotourism experiences. (or a visit to the Botanical Garden)

Day 9Pacific to Caribbean

Depart from the Pacific Coast today. After a flight from Bahia Solano to Medellin you will then fly onwards to Cartagena! ‘The Jewel of the Indies’ is the most beautiful city of the Colombian Caribbean, and one of the most historically important in all of South America. In the afternoon, you’ll partake on a private walking tour of the walled city and will learn about the history and culture of this fascinating city.

Day 10Cooking Class & Salsa Lessons!

Today, a cooking class in a beautiful dedicated cooking studio in the neighbourhood of Getsemani. This will be a hands-on classes, perfect for everyone from novices to cooking enthusiasts. You’ll get instruction in knife skills and cheffing techniques that will enhance your culinary repertoire together with introducing typical flavours and recipes from the region.After a rigorous day of cooking, this evening you will top it all of with a 1-hr private salsa class! Enjoy the Cartagena ambience and continue the evening of dancing.

Day 11Beach Day Trip

This morning you will take a private boat to Isla Tierra Bomba in the Rosario Islands. You will be transported 20 minutes by speed boat to the Island where you can spend the day relaxing in a picture-perfect beach chair and enjoy the turquoise waters at the idyllic Blue Apple. A welcome cocktail and traditional coastal lunch is included in the day. The day lasts from approximately 10am-5:30pm.
