Itinerary

Day 1Bogotá History Tour

Discover the interesting history and culture of La Candelaria, taste tropical fruits, witness Bogotá surprising urban renewal and get to know some of the people and colorful neighborhoods of Colombia’s capital. The best way to enjoy these experiences and see Bogotá and its people up close is by bicycle! In the evening, you will have the opportunity to dine at a locals house and ask them all those burning questions you have after your day of exploring while dining on a home cooked traditional Colombian meal.

Day 2Guaviare – Cerro Azul

You will head to Finca Chontaduro where you will learn about the coca plant and have lunch. From there, you will take a short drive to explore one of Colombia’s most important ancient archaeological sites: The rock paintings of Cerro Azul. Some of the best-preserved pictograms in Colombia cover the walls of this hill. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to visit a local Indigenous community to learn more about the unique culture which still exist around the jungle of Guaviare. Enjoy a dinner with an atmosphere of traditional music and dances!

Day 3Damas del Nare Lake

It’s time for some Amazonian wildlife today as you visit Damas del Nare Lake, a hidden oxbow lake to the east of San Jose, which will give you ample opportunity to admire the Amazon landscapes of the region. This trip will allow you to observe some of the many species of wild monkeys and birds which inhabit this lush jungle and visit the pink dolphins! If you like you can jump into the lake and swim with these magnificent creatures.

Day 4Aquatic Plant Rivers & Puerta de Orion

Your first port of call will be the surreal red rivers which have been dubbed the “twin” of the famous Cano Cristales. Between June and November these clear rivers appear bright red as the endemic Macarenia clavigera blooms. Then you’ll continue on to the Puerta de Orion, probably the most iconic rock formation in the area. This towering rock is 12m high and 15m wide at its base, and holds an important place in local Indigenous cosmology.

Day 5Popayan Sunset Tour

On your walking tour you will experience the cathedrals, squares, museums and beautiful colonial-style churches with their white facades made of chalk. Feel the magic of the city with its small streets and discover why it is considered one of the oldest and most well-preserved historical centers in all of Latin America. To finish off the tour on a high note you will climb the famous hill ¨Morro del Tulcan¨ to see the gorgeous sunset.

Day 6Silvia

About an hour and a half from Popayán is the pretty little mountain town of Silvia. There you will learn about the home of the indigenous Misak. This is a conservative and isolated pre-columbian tribe. Your Misak guide will begin at the famous Silvia markets. After this you will jump on the traditional transport and be taken into the countryside to really feel amongst the culture and beauty of the stunning countryside that cannot only be seen but also felt!

Day 7Tayrona National Park

Today you will put your walking shoes on and head off for a day of exploration in Tayrona National Park. This full day includes approximately 4-5 hours of hiking, monkey & bird spotting, swimming on the stunning caribbean beaches, and admiring the abundance of flora and fauna that make this national park a paradise!

Day 8Tungueka Indigenous Reserve

You will begin today’s activity with a trek for approximately 2 hours through a tropical humid forest by the Ancho river to reach the indigenous reserve of Tungueka. Once you have arrived, you will have a tour of this traditional and primitive community and learn about their way of life and different traditions. There will also be a cultural exchange with the community authorities. After the village tour you will have a delicious picnic & relax beside the beautiful Ancho river before the hike back down.

Day 9Old City Strolling

In the afternoon you will take a guided stroll around the historic centre of Cartagena that will include history, culture, architecture, and maybe even a snack a two.

Day 10La Boquilla Fishing Village
