You will leave enchanted by Salamina and its stunning surroundings. Along with a walking tour to learn about the history and architecture of this traditional heritage village, you will also travel by jeep through the cloud forest to the Samaria valley.  Here you will witness Colombia’s majestic national tree, the towering Wax palm whilst learning about the conservation project. You will also visit a traditional coffee and sugar cane factory to learn about the process of each of these Colombian delicacies.

Day 1 – Salamina Streets

Upon arrival in Salamina you will be taken on a late afternoon jaunt around this spectacular and traditional heritage town. You will learn about the history and the intricately carved wooden doors that date back to the mid 19th century along with many other local secrets…

Day 2 – Samaria Valley

From Salamina, climb aboard a traditional local jeep for a one-hour drive through the Central Andes Mountains of Colombia. Before going to the Wax palm reserve, you will visit the charming village of San Felix, a wonder town with colorful facades and friendly locals. The Samaria valley, a region as important as The Cocora valley for its giant Wax palms (Colombia’s national tree), but with three-times as many of the 60m tall trees, and sees a fraction of the tourists.

Day 3 – Coffee & Sugar Cane Farms

Today you will have the choice to visit a traditional local Coffee farm OR a Sugarcane factory where you will learn about the process of one of these 2 iconic Colombian delicacies that are an important part of everyday life. All the while admiring the magnificent landscapes of the region. 

**Both can be done but will be a very full day, for those moving on to their next location one could be done in the morning before departing.
