Two days to learn to recognize ourselves on a path marked by great challenges and difficulties, from the famous Cocora valley, home to the wax palm and native forests that you will cross calmly due to the amount of mud you will find until you cross the incredible paramo ecosystem with millions of frailejones surrounding you.

During this trek we will see water sources of glacial origin, we will catch a glimpse of the Paramillo del Quindío and also the Nevado del Tolima, and we will get to know the farms and mountain refuges with the daily life of peasant families. Day 0

We ask the travelers to please arrive the day before to Salento to acclimatize; Also, to have a mandatory meeting with our team at the Paramo Trek office where we take you through a pre-departure briefing to double-check you are adequately equipped.

Day 1

Our trek begins at the office, at 6:00 am we will take private transport that will take us, for 25 minutes, to Cocora Valley. After taking the necessary time to enjoy the ecosystem, we calmly prepare to enter this natural sanctuary, we will begin to cross the paddocks until we reach the humid forest. During the tour, we will cross some hanging bridges. After a 9 km ascending that
results in an approximate 4-hours, we will arrive at the Estrella de Agua farm at an altitude of 3,200 m.a.s.l, we will take a lunch break, a hot drink and rest for a bit. The route that follows is the most complicated part, we will walk uphill for 2 hours through the forest with mud terrain, it is 3.5 kilometers to take our mind to the limit and connect with the ecosystem to enjoy its difficulty.

We will arrive at the Paramo ecosystem, where we will have a snack and learn about its importance in the conservation and distribution of water. The trek ends in la Primavera farm at 3,800 m.a.s.l, a farm between the mountains where we will rest, have dinner and possibly see the Nevado del Tolima.

Day 2

We will have breakfast at 06:00 am and will get ready for a day full of energy, we will take the path until we reach the highest point of the trek, the top of la Linea, it is an ascent between the paramo of 1.5 km, from this point we will see Nevado del Tolima and Paramillo del Quindío
(depending on the weather), in the middle of two imposing mountains where the wind whispers, and you hear your heartbeat, then we will arrive at the Buenos Aires farm, will share with the family and have a hot drink with a snack, the trail invites us to continue towards Argentina farm, at this point, we will be at 3,450 m.a.s.l, we will have a hot soup and after another 3 hours of walking, we will arrive at the lunch area, where under an incredible view of the mountain we will have a special picnic to say goodbye to an unforgettable experience. The trek ends in Salento around 5:00 pm with a heart full of gratitude for completing 20 km on this day.

What should I bring?
Take everything we recommend!
- Proper backpack for trekking of 30 liters or more. Here you will carry what you need during each day of the trek.
- Sunscreen, sunglasses with high UV protection, sun hat, warm hat and gloves.
- Headlamp with extra batteries
- Bring a two-liter bottle of water or more, preferably not plastic material.
- Semi-rigid and waterproof trekking boots. Tennis or running shoes will not allow you to safely walk the trails.
- Waterproof jacket and pants to protect you from the rain.
- Take a down jacket or different layers of clothing with you to keep you warm at night (Temperatures between 3 °C -10 °C with humidity of 80% and lower thermal sensation).
- Clothes to change into at the end of the day and personal toiletries.

Experienced mountain travelers who maintain good physical resistance and exercise as part of their daily routine. Your interest in choosing this tour should be to live an experience that involves you striving above what you know about your mental and physical state. Surely you have already trekked in the mountains, you know the way your breathing changes and you know part of your limitations. You will hike between 6 to 8 hours per day, the distances you will walk will be around 15 to 19 kilometers (≈9-12 miles). The trails are cracked, with very steep and constant ascents, uneven paths, muddy for long periods of time and exposure to the sun. The elevation changes of up to 2,500 meters (≈8,000 ft), with an altitude of a maximum 5,000 meters (≈16,000 ft). It involves carrying your own luggage.
