Why a Golden Frog?

The golden poison frog, Phyllobates terribilis, is endemic to Colombia. Colombia has a high level of biodiversity and endemism, meaning that many species of animals and plants are found only in Colombia.

The golden poison frog is critically endangered due to habitat loss, illegal collection for the pet trade, and pollution. Conservation efforts are underway to protect and restore the natural habitats of the golden poison frog and to mitigate the threats that have led to its decline.
