Colombia's Diverse Natural Regions

Colombia's unique geography naturally divides the country into six distinct regions. These include the Andean Region, home to the three branches of the Andes mountains within Colombia, and the Caribbean Region, stretching along the Caribbean Sea. To the west lies the Pacific Region, bordering the Pacific Ocean.

Inland, the Orinoquía Region encompasses part of the Llanos plains, primarily within the Orinoco River basin along the Venezuelan border. The Amazon Region covers a portion of the vast Amazon rainforest. Finally, the Insular Region comprises Colombia's islands in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
